At the age of eight, he began his violin studies at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory in Havana under the tutelage of the Soviet teacher Alla Tarán. After eleven years of intense education, Yan Carlos graduated as a violinist and pianist at the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory in Havana, dominating both classical and popular music, especially Jazz. In 1991, he obtained a position as violinist of the Symphonic Orchestra of Matanzas. In turn, he already works as a professional, interpreting all types of music as pianist and as a violinist. A year later, he became a pianist of the jazz quartet "Fusion 4", with which he participated among other things in the International Festival Jazz Plaza 1993. During 1994, he was pianist of the band "J.B.", directed by the teacher Joaquin Betancourt. There he had the opportunity to play Cuban dance music and Latin Jazz.
